Thank you so much to all the parents and students who came out to Meet the Teacher - it was so nice to see all of you!
We have some exciting news to share! We met (and exceeded) our goal of raising $3000 for the Terry Fox Foundation! As a reward, the students will enjoy an outdoor dance party on Friday afternoon. I've heard there might be some kind of frozen treat served as well. Way to go Falcons! The grand total raised will be announced on Friday.
Please check your child's backpack or agenda this evening for a new notebook. I've sent each student home with a homework book that will stay at home, only returned once a month on the due date indicated (the last school day of each month).
Here's the scoop on this program: It is 100% optional! Many parents ask for homework that supports the Grade 3 program, while just as many parents would prefer that their child have the evening free for extra-curricular activities as well as down time and family time. The activities each month support the Grade 3 program and are aligned with curriculum expectations. They are intended to be extra practice for learned or soon-to-be-learned skills at school. A student can still be successful without completing the activities, so not to worry if they are not completed.
If, however, your child chooses to complete the activities, I will take a look and provide feedback where applicable. Students who complete all the activities will receive a "Good Choice" ticket for our class draw, as well as a fancy pencil for their efforts.
